what
is a wish?
A “wish” is a critically ill child’s answer
to the question, “If you could be anything…meet
any body…have anything or go anywhere…what
would it be?” The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of
Arizona grants the wishes of children ages 2 1/2
- 18 whose physicians affirm that they have life-threatening
medical
condition.
Here
are some examples of the wishes some of our children make:

I
wish to meet…
Many children, especially the littlest ones, want to meet
their idols. They wish to meet Sleeping Beauty...to have breakfast
with Mickey Mouse...to have a Pooh party…or a private
meeting with Barney.
Some
children wish to meet someone very special--a celebrity who
has been a hero, a role-model, a motivator, an inspiration
through a very difficult time in their life. We have fulfilled
wishes to meet The Rock, Will Smith, Janet Jackson, Rosie
O’Donnell, and NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon.

I wish to be…
Wishes for a unique, one-of-a-kind experience shine with a
child’s own personal passion and imagination. Children
have chosen to be Spiderman, a rock star, Cinderella…even
a pickle factory worker.

I wish to go…
Children make wishes for travel to swim with dolphins,
have a luau in Hawaii, get a piggy-back ride from a favorite
uncle or see sites like Yosemite National Park, the Grand
Canyon or the Golden Gate Bridge.

I
wish to have…
Gift wishes include computers and shopping sprees, and more
unusual dreams like a fire station bedroom complete with fire
pole, a grand piano, a horse named “Buttercup”,
and even a two-story Queen Anne play house.
